All in all, Brothers In Arms is a great game, which should definetly be in every FPS and tactical game fans collection. The left trigger is used to give order to your soldiers, and the rest of the controls are regular FPS fare. For a game which puts so much emphasis on using authentic tactics, the control scheme is relatively simple. This affects the story aspect in that when a character dies, you do not feel any remorse, you just wonder who it was. Not enough time was given to developing the characters that you fight alongside. The game's biggest flaw is the attempted character development. Throughout the game you will unlock bonus content which allows you to learn more about real aspects of the Normandy campaingn, including information on weapons, tanks, and battles. This really adds to the game as you have the feeling that you are almost there. One interesting detail about the game is that the maps are all authentic to real areas in Normandy, where real battles were fought in 1944. The graphics are not disappointing and are good enough maintain the authentic feeling given by the game, but they do not stand out as being brilliant.

If you attempt to charge a bunch of Germans you will swiftly be killed, instead, you need to order your men to provide suppresing fire while you sneak round the enemy and flank them. You can order the soldiers under your command to do things such as hold a position, follow your lead, provide suppressing fire and charge an enemy. For example, if you order your men to provide suppresing fire on an enemy from behind a wall, they will use tactics such as reloading while someone else fires, and they will take cover while they reload. The AI in the game - for both enemies and allies - is simply fantastic. The next thing you will think, as you progress further into the game is, Damn.they're using the same tactics as I am. From the distinctive sound of the MP40 machine gun, to the metallic ping of an empty clip being fired out of the M1 Garand, there's no shortage of examples of this dedication. Gearbox have tried to make this as authentic as possible and it seems obvious that they have definetly put alot of effort into the game. The thing that stands out most when you first play the game is the awesome sounds given by the large artillery of weapons which are at your disposal. As Baker is knocked out, his story is told as one long flashback, in which the player guides Baker from his initial jump into Normandy prior to the D-Day landings, through Carentan, to the ultimate battle on Hill 30.
